Of all the Sub Pop episodes, I think I like this one the most. To my ears, it sounded the most Sub Pop of them all (the fact that Nirvana and Mudhoney were included probably contributed to this opinion) but stand out tracks from Green Magnet School and Big Damn Crazy Weight represent the "Sub Pop aesthetic" (if there is such a thing).
On a side note, it sounds like "Fire of Love" was the inspiration for Spinal Tap's "Gimme Some Money".
I am also a little surprised that the influence of Alice Cooper felt in music throughout the decades is not really discussed as much as other bands like the Velvet Underground, The Beatles, and Black Sabbath.

Boss Hog’s "Fire of Love" does remind one of "Gimme Some Money"… I didn’t notice that until you mentioned it. The original version by Jody Reynolds is much slower and more of a lament… No Spinal Tap vibe there.
Yeah, you’re right about Alice Cooper. He’s reverently remembered but not as often discussed. His career has certainly been much longer that the others you mentioned. Maybe because his style is much more idiosyncratic (IMO), his influence is not as prominent…
Now that the Sub Pop series is wrapped, I’m giving thought to what’s next… I’m considering a series focused on Australian artists… Or maybe the long-threatened stoner rock series…

The Stoner Rock series is *definitely* coming... But, that one is simmering on the back burner right now.
I'm just about ready to launch a new series of podcasts delving into the Australian indie / underground / punk rock scene of the late '70s and '80s. I've got playlists together for 6 episodes and it's all good stuff: Radio Birdman, The Saints, Celibate Rifles, The New Christs, etc... You're gonna dig it!
