Jimi Lalumia clearly messed with the bull and he got the horns. When you make an enemy of KC and the Sunshine Band, you clearly also make an enemy of Sam Goody. A powerful enemy indeed as Sam was known to make quite a coin in the music biz. All joking aside, great stuff! I have digital copies of both the Ork compilation and Max's Kansas City 1976 compilation, and yet still I heard new tracks here. Thanks again! Byrnes
Ha! I'm sure the Jimi Lalumia single would've sold millions had it not been banned by Sam Goody's... (not!) Yeah, the Ork and Max's K.C. comps are strongly represented in this episode, but they made for a good mix, I think... I'm glad I was able to sprinkle a few tracks in there that were new to you. Thanks for listening!
Had to come back and listen to this set again....Everybody Wants....dang, what an obscure band doing an inspirational song. One vinyl out there, calls them Psychobilly genre: https://www.discogs.com/The-Cellmates-On-Parole/release/3665229 That's a good 'un.
Hey buddy. So glad you're enjoying the podcasts! It makes it SO MUCH more fun for me when listeners share their thoughts on the music. Thank you for your comments!
Yeahh! I loved the California Punk and especially this NYC Punk podcast. Lots of great stuff there and some obscurities as well. I like when you give background info on the producers, labels, etc.
Markatino! Glad to hear you’re catching up on these older podcasts. Nice contrast to hear the New York episode immediately following the California ones, right? NYC punk definitely has a distinctly different flavor...
